Chilton County New Announcement

Alabama Farm Center – $100 million investment

In 2019 Chilton County was selected as the site of a $100 million investment for the planned Alabama Farm Center. Chilton County was selected due to its central location on I-65 and its access to cities such as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery. Alabama Farm Center

  • The announced Alabama Farm Center will create up to 400 jobs and is projected to have an annual economic impact of $55 million.  The center will include a 5,000-seat air-conditioned arena, 150,000 square foot exhibition building, 400-stall horse barn, 400 recreational vehicle hookups and a variety of other barns and arenas. Merchants Corp

  • Merchants Corp operates a distribution center in Chilton County, constructed in 1999. The facility comprises of 200,000 square feet of dry, refrigerated and frozen warehouse space with 8 million cubic feet of storage space. Companies within these sectors would have an opportunity due to the demand for Agribusiness/Food products. This is based on the following supply chain statistics:

  • $50.1 million Other Animal Food Manufacturing products are being purchased within the Chilton County Region. Currently, only $3.5 million of these products are being manufactured in the region, with over $46 million being imported from outside the region.
  • $24.1 million Wet Corn Milling products are being purchased within the Chilton County Region. Currently, none of these products are being manufactured in the region, with over $24 million being imported from outside the region.
  • $20.8 million Soybean and Other Oilseed Processing products are being purchased within the Chilton County Region. Currently, none of these products are being manufactured in the region, with over $20 million being imported from outside the region.
  • $16 million Meat Processing products are being purchased within the Chilton County Region. Currently, only $227,000 of these products are being manufactured in the region, with over $15 million being imported from outside the region.
